"(SWA) Movie Analysis 3/5"

The three films, “Nosferatu”, “The Shining”, and “The Conjuring” all try to create a sense of terror. The most recent films obviously do a better job but considering the fact that one of these films was made in the early twentieth century it still has a great sense of terror and suspense. The film “Nosferatu” wasn’t the scariest film I have seen by far but with the technology they had back then the film was probably terrifying. The way that they used music to signify suspense is the greatest thing that they did to make it horrifying.
In “The Shining” the way that they made it scary was they used a creepy guy with an ax to make it scarier. Whenever he was close to somebody he was trying to get the music would go up and he would say something that in a normal context wouldn’t be scary. For example he used the three little pigs story to create suspense and to make the scene creepier. “The Conjuring” is an absolutely horrifying film. The actors do such a good job at making it feel real that it feels like you are there living in the house with them. The special effects are incredibly real and the music feels like something that is written by the devil himself. Overall, all of these films use music to create suspense and most suspense scenes are in a bedroom in the dead of night. The most terrifying film is “The Conjuring” because everything in it feels so real. The actors almost seem personally terrorized by the events that happen. Just the fact that it says it is based on a true story adds a bit more creepiness to the whole story.
